Civic Engagement
Workers learn to navigate community services and practice collective problem-solving in workshops and through community projects. Worker participation in projects such as organizing citizenship clinics and classes and parenting workshops, bolsters self-sufficiency and strengthens communities.
“I always loved playing soccer with my brothers in Guatemala , but I never got the chance to play on a real team. The BSP helped me organize a soccer team for women janitors. We play every Friday night in Oakland . We don't win a lot, but one season we took second place!”
