Board Members’ Support Matters to Nonprofits

With the rising cost of education and diminishing public funding, college scholarships have become even more critical. Nearly all of the children of property service workers are first-generation college students. 

Through the support of our partners, supporters, and Board of Directors, BSP has provided over $400,000 in scholarships to children of service workers since 2008. 

BSP values our Board of Directors and their generous gifts of time, direction, and involvement with our organization, which enable BSP to provide life-changing opportunities to property service workers and their families throughout California. 

It is imperative for board members of all organizations to donate or help fundraise to the nonprofit organizations they are involved with. Some reasons for board giving include:

• By personally contributing, a Board Member recognizes their responsibility and demonstrates a commitment.

• A Board Member who is also a donor will be more successful when asking others to give.

• A Board Member should designate their own organization as one of the main recipients of their generosity. 

• Many foundations only contribute to organizations where every board member is a contributor. This helps BSP in future grant funding. 

• Contributing to BSP’s annual fundraising event, the Mike Garcia Scholarship gala; will help the children of property service workers obtain a higher education.

BSP is excited to host our 2023 Mike Garcia Scholarship gala in San Jose on October 5th, 2023. 

BSP invites our Board of Directors to contribute to the 2023 Mike Garcia Scholarship gala. Any amount you can afford will help us meet our goal. We simply can’t do it without you.
