Vocational Training

BSP’s Floor Care program engages building owners, employers and janitorial industry leaders to collaboratively define and improve skills, standards, training, and career ladder opportunities for immigrant night-shift janitors with limited English proficiency. In 2019, BSP launched the Floor Care Technician Training Program thanks to a partnership between SEIU-USWW and janitorial contractor representatives. 

The curriculum focuses on the fundamentals of floor care, followed by on-the-job training. The program is offered to individuals who have been working in the janitorial industry and are interested in moving up the career ladder to become a floor care technician. Additionally, the program brings the expertise of existing floor care technicians to serve as guides to trainees.
