Leahkim Luansing is proud of her Filipino-American heritage. Born in Manila, she immigrated to the U.S. in 2000 when she was 4 years old. Her family settled in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley, where she spent her formative years.

Currently, as BSP’s Airport Coordinator, Leahkim helps to provide educational resources and community-based programs to LAX airport service workers.

She facilitates the coordination, recruitment, marketing, and delivery of vocational and community-based programs supporting workers.

She values the communities of color that BSP programs serve, delivering career and education opportunities that enable workers’ personal and professional success.

“I'm happy to be working for BSP and expanding Community Advancement and Workforce Development programs for airport passenger service workers,” says Leahkim. “Everyone learns differently and I'm glad to be part of an organization that embraces accessible education and diverse experiences.”

BSP’s LAX programs offer a variety of courses to workers at one of the largest international airports in the world. These programs include Emergency Preparedness Training, which offers a specialized curriculum designed to address the rising concerns of various emergencies and incidents that have occurred at airports worldwide.

Leahkim knows the importance of voting

While studying Psychology at Cal State University, Los Angeles, Leahkim began her career in education as a policy debate coach and curriculum developer. Her unique experience working in independent and public schools, as well as business and nonprofit institutions makes her a compatible match to strategize with BSP’s LAX team. She is dedicated to helping sustain the growth and efficiency of BSP’s airport training programs.

In addition to her array of professional and personal accomplishments, Leahkim proudly naturalized and became a U.S. Citizen in 2021. She understands the importance of voting in elections and has voted four times since becoming a citizen.

When asked about her view of naturalizing, she says, “growing up as an undocumented person, I saw voting as a privilege. Now as a citizen, I see it as a responsibility. There are people who live in this country who are affected by policy changes but cannot vote. I see voting as more than just an individual act - it's a chance to participate in collective action by aligning our values with our votes.”

BSP celebrates Leahkim’s work and accomplishments!
