Hispanics in Philanthropy Conference

Luis Sandoval, BSP’s Executive Director; and Christian Valdez, Director of Development and Impact at the 2025 HIP Conference in Albuquerque

BSP was proud to attend the historic HIP Hispanics in Philanthropy -NAP Native Americans in Philanthropy Joint Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico—a powerful gathering of philanthropic institutions and grassroots leaders focused on advancing justice for Latine and Indigenous communities across the Americas and the Caribbean.

This first-of-its-kind convening, hosted by Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) Hispanics in Philanthropy and Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) Native Americans in Philanthropy created space for healing, strategizing, and collective action—especially critical in a year where our communities face mounting political and social challenges.

BSP's Executive Director Luis Sandoval and Director of Development and impact Christian Valdez joined plenarias, panels, and charlas centered on:

  • Strengthening sovereignty and cultural identity

  • Protecting communities from extremist policies

  • Advancing equitable funding practices

  • Uplifting community-rooted solutions

They also had the honor of connecting with changemakers like Virdiana Velez of The James Irvine Foundation journalist and author Paola Ramos, legendary labor leader Dolores Huerta, and filmmaker Gregory Nava.

Gratitude to HIP and NAP for building this transformative space on the ancestral lands of the Pueblo, Navajo, and Apache peoples.
