Advocating in Sacramento for Workers and Industries

Our Building Skills Partnership (BSP) team traveled to Sacramento to advocate for workforce development and uplift the voices of the immigrant workers who power California’s economy.

Championing High-Road Workforce Development

We met with state leaders, including the California Workforce Development Board to discuss how sector-based and high-road training partnerships can effectively meet the needs of both workers and industries. This innovative model is designed to be a win-win: addressing labor and management needs while creating pathways for worker empowerment and industry growth.

At BSP, we are proud to champion these solutions that strengthen industries while investing in the skills, resilience, and economic mobility of California’s frontline workers.

Standing with Immigrant Workers

Together with our partners at SEIU_USWW and SEIUCA, we also advocated for immigrant communities, whose contributions are foundational to California’s economic strength. From commercial real estate to airports, immigrant workers are essential to the industries that keep our state moving.

By advancing smart workforce solutions — from upskilling opportunities to inclusive policies — we are working to ensure that workers are equipped for the jobs of today and tomorrow. Supporting immigrant workers isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s a strategic imperative for revitalizing our urban centers and building a resilient, competitive economy.

We’re excited to share that Executive Director Luis Sandoval of Building Skills Partnership had the opportunity to join the BOMA Greater Los Angeles (GLA) board this morning to highlight our current initiatives and the work we’re doing to uplift workers while strengthening the industry. 💪🏽✨

As the needs of the workforce continue to evolve, we’re committed to building innovative solutions and deepening collaborations that create lasting change.

A heartfelt thank you to BOMA GLA for welcoming us and giving us the space to share our efforts. We look forward to continuing this important partnership and working together to create a stronger future for all.
